Incredibly slow read speeds!

Heyo, I used this hashmap implementation for my small programming language and it works pretty well, however, the read speeds are prolonged compared to other implementations and write speeds of this one. Is that a bug? It may be a good idea to make some benchmarks.
If speed is not the primary concern of this lib but rather the use of UTF8 encoded strings, then I'm sorry to trouble you with this issue and you can ignore it.

I don't quite understand how the UTF8 encoded strings comes into it - but I agree we could do with benchmarks on the library! hashmap.h was more about the ease of functionality, rather than speed. There are much better hashmaps out there, but most do not support C.

It seems to be faster when it comes to reading data, but yeah, I like the ease of your implementation more. Keep up the good work
