Feature request: twocolumn layout option

First off, thanks for the nice package!

I read this part of the manual

There is currently no support for multiple columns

For my current project, I need a twocolumn and twoside layout (via documentclass options). This package would be the best choice for my project because of its floating-style placement of notes in the margin.

Have you given any new thoughts to this? I could contribute by testing and documenting.
