I would like the device icon on FileExplorer to be automatically unmounted when disconnected.

Sure, I will add an option for that, if you do want to access the files that have been downloaded/in sync, you would need to navigate to the folder that has already been set and I tend to use that as a shortcut for the saved files so unregistering during every disconnect seemed not worth it. Now that you mention it I may have forgotten about unregistering when removing the device.

@reindex-ot I should also mention that the unregistering or unmounting of the sync root (the drive) will only work if the app was still alive during the disconnection as in if the app was killed off, it won't unmount, and because of that, I don't know if I should even keep that option? Do you just hate having storage mounted like that? I can maybe come up with a way of showing it as disconnected in the Windows Explorer shell itself like Phone Link. I think that is better than just outright removing the sync root.

I think it should be adjusted so that the icon is not displayed after disconnecting the device, because there is no option to unmount it.

An update to your request: I tried to do it without messing up the hydration, but there was no way around it apparently. It's not that you can't, but more like if I do unmount/unregister, on subsequent connections the file enumeration is going to take a long time.

To give you an example:

Say you hydrate (Visit) your download folder.
And then after a reconnection, the subfolders that you didn't even hydrate/visit inside the downloads folder will have to be re-created (all the files inside those folders will be hydrated, which is certainly not what we want) because unregistering removes all the placeholders for some reason.
