goals of evaluation

• is the project achieving what it wants to do (short term) (formative impacts)
• checking fidelity - are we doing what said we would do, and if not, why not?
• Is the project working effectively - culture, etc.
• is the project achieving what it wants to do (long term impacts) (summative impacts)
• how effective is communication across different groups

for metrics:

• Identify what we want to measure for activities, even if we don't know how to measure it right now - can brainstorm
• Are there metrics than can help us understand more than one thing
• Current metrics on activities should help us understand impacts - may need to do a logic to map this out - could help understand what other metrics
• Likely also need longitudinal studies to understand impacts
• PIs may need to build logic models, then go back to Cherie for feedback

we should write incentives for completing surveys into budget
