Valuing producers of research software

I appreciate the sentiment of this sub-section, but it feels like it places a specific spotlight on the project leaders rather than the wider challenge of valuing all involved in the production of research software, and risks continuing the "myth of the lone genius" that permeates both academic and open source culture.

It would be good to have as one of the examples, a team that has not been valued.

I don't have examples of teams that have tried and failed. Does anyone have any?

This was a comment from Simon on the section. The quoted text is what I wrote, the comment below the text in from Simon. His suggestion is not just to talk about the success of folks like F. Perez, and failures of T Oliphant, but also about projects so it's not just a spotlight on project leadrs.
