I really like this idea! Has there been any recent progress? If not I'll take a stab at it.

No progress, hasn't been a priority. Go ahead!

Going to take a break working on this.

I'm still interested in this kind of thing as a feature. But IMO this kind of binding might be better suited to specific plugs (e.g tasks syncing task status from queries).

I want to focus more attention on adding APIs to help with those kinds of features. I'm also just busier right now and making smaller contributions is a little easier :)
