Plug idea: Read it later #247

I like following the “note or didn’t happen” rule: if I read something of significance, I should make notes about it. Otherwise I can assume I’ll forget about it. Right now, I use Safari’s native “Reading List” functionality to read stuff later. I then have to switch to SB to figure out a place to make notes, and actually make those notes separately.

It may be interesting investigating creating a plug for this that does two things:

  • Make it easy to track links you still want to read later
  • Offer a UI to make notes about those links easier.

For the second, I think a split-view inside of SB could be used. The RHS (right-hand side) panel can be used to render the link itself (it’s an iframe after all), similar to how Markdown preview works right now. On the left, you could make your notes while scrolling through the link on the right.

As to tracking the links themselves, not sure about this. Perhaps keeping them as a task list, but with an action list to immediately create a page for them in the split-view mode, may be cool. This may depend on #244
