how to add something to GUI

Hello,

I would like to add something to the GUI, particularly something that would clear the content of a field without need to manually deleting the contents

eg, workflow:

select with mouse some callid (or other info) from a terminal
click with the mouse on a GUI button on the side of a field
field is now cleared
click with middle mouse button in the field so now contains the callid
search
PROFIT!
