Loser marks next game on the board they lose on

A lot of competitions (nearly all) that i have played in have a 'loser marks' rule. Could that be incorporated to the referee options so that you can automatically set the last loser on that board/lane to be the referee for the very next game?

We have actually tried that over several tournaments.
It turned out, for us at least, that this rule was too restrictive. People leave early, sometimes (especially in Double Elimination) winners have to mark matches for the tournament to run faster. Also, tracking actual lanes is quite involved from an implementation point of view.

The current Referee Suggestion is there to help you confidently select who marks, without being too restrictive.

I'll keep a note of it, and perhaps add it as an optional rule.

In the UK double elim comps are not that popular in the most part. We 'stress' to competitors that you must chalk the board you lose on. Having it as an optional rule would be a nice touch for sure.

It would be a lot easier to implement on Single Elimination. And league/round-robin, when implemented.
I will keep it in mind, not making any definitive promises yet :)

Ideally I would try to implement it as the primary workflow, then let operators change as it suits them.

The base philosophy is freedom, with hand-holding. You are not required to add referees, boards, match length, achievements, final results. But you can. That's why I need to find an elegant, yet flexible way to implement such features.

I think I've found a compromise:

Showing the lanes in the Referee Suggestions should help, without sacrificing flexibility. Lanes only show up in the suggestions if you actually assigned them, giving operators a choice.
