Licence Checkout without specifying the seat id.

Context

I'm trying to automate checking out of specific licences to user. What i'm trying to achieve, is to check out the first free licence seat to a user. Right now, i need to excplicitely specify the seat id.

Your Environment

• SnipitPS Module version used: 1.10.227
• Snipe It version: 6.0.10

Expected Behavior

Licence Seat check out, should give the option to checkout by using the next free seat, instead of explicitely needing the id of the seat to check out to.

Current Behavior

Licence Seat check out needs the id of the seat to check out.

Possible Solution

You could make the parameter non-mandatory. If not specified, should get the first free seat to check out to.

Thanks for suggestion. Checking out without specifying seat would be nice. Have you checked that does api allow this or does this need coding in SnipeitPS?

Thank you for replying. The api does not allow this unfortunately, according to https://snipe-it.readme.io/reference/licensesidseatsseat_id-1 as it is a required field. A not so "clean" but fast way of doing this, from what i i can think of, would be to store all the seats in a variable, split it and fetch the first one that has no checked out properties. Then use is as a seat id: to assign it to the user.

My use case here is that we use powershell scripts in our company to automate the creation of users, assign them permissions internally for various in-house web apps etc. We use snipeit (apart from asset management) to "log" various permissions given to users, by assigning licences to them.
