MDA 1.0 is here

We're happy to announce MDA 1.0 — the first stable release of the MDA (Markdown Document Architecture) spec.

What 1.0 means

• The spec, JSON Schema, and conformance toolchain are frozen for the 1.x line
• .mda documents authored against the 1.0 spec are forward-compatible across all 1.x minor and patch releases
• The reference parser, footnote-relationship extractor, and target compilation (SKILL.md, AGENTS.md, MEMORY.md) are production-ready

What's next — help us prioritize 1.1

We'd like community input on what to focus on for the 1.1 cycle. A companion poll has been posted: Poll — what should MDA prioritize for 1.1?

The three candidate priorities are:

1. Official compiler implementation — a first-party reference compiler with full target-format support
2. Deeper integration with agent-skill ecosystems — first-class adapters for Claude Code skills, MCP servers, and similar agent platforms
3. Security and provenance tooling — Sigstore signing helpers, schema-validated audit trails, and a published threat model
