a subdirectory without a trailing `/` gets its leading directory removed

are you possibly rewriting the request url? or passing the wrong one somewhere along the way?

if i have a dir at /contents/content/dog/ and i browse to /contents/content/dog i get redirected to /content/dog/. that's unexpected.
