Games crash without loading anything using various proton versions

Issue Description

Tried to run two different games (My summer car and Fallout 4) Using various versions of proton and none of them will launch and crash before even loading a window.

This seems to be happening because of some stray Wine processes (particularly wineserver) causing the PID to not be found. Noting this part of your steamtinkerlaunch.log:

Are there stray Wine processes on your PC? Does this still happen after a reboot? I have had similar issues, and vaguely remember similar ones being reported long ago. Check for Wine processes that may not have closed properly from games with launchers, such as Fallout 4.

It is also worth noting that there seem to be permissions issues coming up with Proton within your logs. These could also be causing problems. I am not sure what would be causing these.

I won't be able to check anything till I get home in a couple hours but what would cause the perm errors? the drive Fallout 4 is installed on along with the other game is an ntfs drive so I don't know if that could be it or not. I plan on installing a new drive just for linux tonight cuz right now I'm splitting a drive between nobara and windows

Proton doesn't support running games on an NTFS drive, so that could indeed be an issue. If you regularly share a drive between Windows and Linux, in my experience things can get a little messy (I had an NTFS drive many years ago when I dual booted before going full-time in 2018, and I had many, many issues).

Outside of that, if games work without SteamTinkerLaunch, I'm not sure what we would be doing to cause those issues.
