Twitch remote server unexpectedly closed connection

I just get this error with the Twitch Channel now in 0.1.14 Likely introduced with #144

I tried:

• "the old" Method of just getting a Access Token from https://twitchtokengenerator.com
• creating a full application in the dev console (with clientid+secret etc)
• using that clientid+secret in https://twitchtokengenerator.com

None of them worked. Downgrading to 0.1.13 instantly made the integration work again.

I tested that Pr quite heavly with setting up and removing multiple tokens and everything worked fine and still dose for me ...

is ~/.spacebot/twitch_token.json being made ?

You are putting the REFRESH TOKEN given by twitchtokengenerator into the ui or config as well right? this is all i can think of

I'm using the newest ghcr.io/spacedriveapp/spacebot:v0.1.14-full image but i don't see .spacebot ? no idea how the paths are setup in that image

Ah its $SPACEBOT_DIR which is /data looks like the refresh token is empty in the file. I'll retry a bit, maybe the UI saving has a bug or I made a mistake? (multiple times though)

Hmm.

No, the refresh token continues to be empty in twitch_token.json

I tried deleting the file, resaving, editing via UI or raw config. Always empty refresh.

Also tried to leaving out client id and secret and the reverse, but always same

Any ideas? Also the token seems to be always starting with lb9, is it cached somewhere in the bot should I be hard restarting the whole thing? Although the created_at seems to update

Edit: even hard restart doesn't work. It always ends up with the access token of lb9 ? No idea where from. Not in my config

I just span up docker and created a new Twitch chat integration and it worked fine

However the expires at null is strange seen as it is explicitly set at 1 hour for the first refresh

all i can say is do full remove of [messaging.twitch] from config and delete twitch_token.json

Okay I'll try that again. To confirm though.

You create a twitch app on dev.twitch.tv and use that clientid+secret on twitchtokengenerator to create access token + refresh token And then insert all 4 of those credentials into spacebot correct?

Yes set all of those via the ui or the config , then you will need to manual re add channels to the config toml (no idea why theres no ui option this was like this before my pr)

I feel like those channels belong on the bindings, which the UI also puts them on, but yeah like you said that was already problematic before

Hmm. I deleted the container, only kept the volume, removed the twitch_token.json, and the entire messaging section from the config. Even made new access token+refresh via twitchtokengenerator

Then started fresh from the UI and then reconfigured the prefix + channels in config manually.
Had to restart for it to connect but it is stuck on the same error again

And again i'm weirdly stuck on that lb9... token again

Is that token cached, or saved anywhere else on disk maybe?

The only last resort i can think of for you although not ideal is to manual set correct access_token and refresh_token in twitch_token.json

set a expired at time that has passed then do a full restart of the twitch adptor so that when twitch_irc auths it will refresh the token and re save it

Hmm. doing that didn't help either. The refresh token doesn't even change after boot

I found a buried log message though, maybe it was there earlier too, didn't see it in all the log spam

Alright. Manually setting the access token + refresh token in twitch_token.json did it.

I moved expires_at shortly after the created_at date so that it expires and it seemed to check that and now has updated that date to a later one (token stayed the same for now)

Closing this issue since this does not seem to reproducible. Maybe others can find all this debugging helpful.
