Querying objects by permissions

What I have as an example:

• A User can have multiple Posts
• Once a Post is created the User will get direct permission to the Post using wildcard permissions eg. post.edit.<POST_ID>

I'm looking for a two directional query:

1. Querying Post's that User has access to edit
2. Querying User's who has Access to Post

My current workaround for first problem is

    $user_perms = Auth::user()->getDirectPermissions();

    $post_ids = array();

    foreach ($user_perms as $perm) {
        # eg perm would be 'post.edit.1'
        $p = explode(".", $perm->name);

        if ($p[0] === 'post') {
            array_push($post_ids, $p[2]);
        }
    }

    $user_posts = Workspace::whereIn('id', $post_ids)->get();
