I build Fredy 🏡

Fredy is a self-hosted real estate finder for
Germany. It watches 17 portals (ImmoScout24, Immowelt, Kleinanzeigen, WG-Gesucht and more),
throws away the duplicates, and pings you on Slack, Telegram, Discord or email the minute
something new appears. It also tells you whether you can actually afford a listing, and how
long you would really travel to work from it.

No commission. No subscription. No "sorry, already taken." 1,400+ stars and counting.

I'm Christian, a software engineer from Düsseldorf. Fredy is what I do on evenings and
weekends, and most of that time goes into the unglamorous part: German portals change their
markup and their bot detection constantly, and every time they do, somebody's apartment
search quietly stops working. Keeping 17 scrapers alive is the job.

What sponsorship pays for

  • Proxies and test accounts, so I catch a broken provider before you do
  • The hours to fix them, usually within a day or two
  • New providers, new notification adapters, and the features people keep asking for

$75 a month covers the proxies and test accounts that keep the german portals working, with enough left over that I can put real weekday hours into Fredy instead of only leftover evenings. Concretely: broken providers get fixed the same day rather than next weekend.
