Please provide more details, including the version of Spring Tools 4, the environment (Eclipse, VSCode, Theia,etc.), a more detailed stack trace from the Error Log View (in case of Eclipse), a sample project that helps us to reproduce the issue, and steps how to reproduce this. Thanks!

Hey Team, I have encountered a similar issue with STS 4.4.27.0 RELEASE for Eclipse for Windows Machine with JDK 17 and Maven 3.8.8 while configuring a simple SpringBoot Project. Tried updating the dependancies but didnt work either.

Can you provide the stack trace from the Error Log view for this? I will attach the stack trace along with the sample project
And maybe a simple sample project that can help us to reproduce this? I would attach a simple Springboot project in a while to this thread.

Or do you have any additional plugins installed? --> No special plugins installed which should interrupt the working for STS.

I have Java 21, STS 4.29.1 from https://spring.io/tools and I have Apache Maven 3.9.9

Also, when I try to run the New Spring starter project, I get the following error:

SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
Let me know how to get through this.

Please keep in mind that the Spring Tools for Eclipse use a specific JDK that is embedded in the installation, so you need to make sure to install the certs into the right cacerts file. You can find the JDK that comes with the Spring Tools for Eclipse distribution in the Eclipse/plugins directory, there should be a folder named org.eclipse.justj.openjdk.hotspot.jre.full... which contains the JDK that is used by default. If you modify the SpringToolSuite4.ini file to configure the IDE to a use a different JDK, then you need to look into that corresponding JDK directory for the carets, of course.

I used the windows installer for Spring Tools Suite .

Not even the Spring starter project is running on STS 4.29.1 on my system. I cannot find a way to see the detailed logs as well.

I guess you are trying to create a new Spring Boot project using the wizard inside of the Spring Tools for Eclipse installation, right? Does it show the error message that you mentioned above? (SunCertPathBuilderException) And if so, did you follow the instructions for this case on that Stackoverflow posting?

Can you also take a look at the Error Log view to see if something related shows up there? You can open the view viaWindows -> Show View -> Error Log.

I'm also facing the exact issue. I have Java 21, Maven 3.9.9 and STS Version: 4.29.0.RELEASE.
I tried creating a Maven project, converting a Java project into a Maven one. But each time the dependencies are not getting resolved.
