RHS Navigation Bug, highlighted (i-1) nav item

Hey! We're seeing this behavior when navigating with the rhs nav bar where if you click on a section, it takes you to the correct section but the wrong item (i-1) is highlighted.

this could be a duplicate of:

• wrong section is highlighted in TOC #8262

which was a duplicate of:

• Incorrect secondary nav item is displayed as active despite correct URL hash #8210

There are currently no plans to change this, as the what is selected as the current heading #anchor and what was calculated as the "active" ToC element by JavaScript are 2 different systems. But maybe if more people would create a minimal reproducible example, then perhaps it could be resolved.
