I ran:
npm install --unsafe-perm -g shader-school
and get :

Why is that happened? [ npm : 5.6.0; node : 9.4.0; OS : Ubuntu Studio]

The dependencies are so outdated that one of them had a peer dependency which referenced an ancient node.js version.

I tried to brute force around the issue with yarn:

It took a while and it wasn't pretty but I got the project running:
