RSVP–Polyxan vs. MultiGen: The Architecture Of Structurally Complete World Engines

1. From Generative Models To Dynamical World Models

Contemporary generative systems operate as one-way projection engines. They map internal representations to outputs but lack a mechanism to reintegrate those outputs into a persistent world-state. This creates long-horizon instability, commonly labeled as hallucination.

Within a structural framework, this failure is not accidental. It is a gluing failure: local outputs cannot assemble into a globally consistent structure. In cohomological terms, this corresponds to non-vanishing first cohomology:

H¹(𝒢∞) ≠ 0

The remedy is not more data or larger models, but a shift in ontology. Instead of treating outputs as independent samples, the system must maintain a persistent semantic field that enforces global consistency.

2. RSVP–Polyxan: A Field Theory Of Semantics

The RSVP–Polyxan framework models the world as a structured latent field over a semantic manifold.

M_t : X → ℝᵈ

This field decomposes into six coupled components:

  • Φ_t — scalar coherence potential
  • v_t — directional flow (agency)
  • S_t — entropy (uncertainty)
  • A_t — affordance structure
  • R_t — causal residue (history)
  • z_t — appearance encoding

Unlike traditional systems, these components evolve jointly under a variational principle. The world is not a sequence of frames but a trajectory minimizing a global energy functional.

3. MultiGen As A Degenerate Projection

MultiGen can be understood as a projection of the full field onto a restricted subspace.

π(M_t) → Φ_t

This projection discards:

  • causal history (R_t)
  • agency (v_t)
  • interaction structure (A_t)

As a result, MultiGen retains only geometric occupancy while losing the structural components required for persistence.

Property MultiGen RSVP–Polyxan
State Representation Scalar field Full latent field
Dynamics Static / read-only Variational evolution
Memory None Causal residue
Consistency Spatial only Semantic + causal + topological
Symmetry Broken Conserved

The loss of these dimensions explains the instability of long sequences.

4. The Missing Write Operator

Persistence requires a bidirectional loop:

M_t → observation → M_{t+1}

MultiGen implements only the forward map. RSVP–Polyxan introduces a write operator that closes the loop.

Without this operator:

  • observations do not alter the substrate
  • history is not accumulated
  • consistency cannot be enforced

With it, the system evolves toward a fixed point:

M ≈ RSVP(Poly(M))

This condition defines structural persistence.

5. The Invention–To–Memory Principle

Generative freedom is restricted to a single event per region.

A local proposal is processed in three stages:

Proposal

x' = N_ψ(x)

Projection

x'' = Π_C(x')

### Commit

M_{t+1} = Write(x'')

The projection enforces admissibility via conserved quantities:

- coherence conservation
- flow conservation
- entropy balance

This ensures that creativity is filtered through structural constraints before entering memory.

## 6. Causal Synchronization And Multi-Cadence Dynamics

To balance responsiveness and stability, the system separates dynamics into two timescales:

- **Fast updates:** appearance (z_t), flow (v_t)
- **Slow updates:** structure (Φ_t), affordances (A_t), identity

In multi-agent environments, synchronization occurs through **shared field evolution** rather than message passing.

Conflicts are resolved through admissibility:

E_{t+1} ≤ E_t + W(a_t)

The system accepts only updates that preserve global consistency under the energy budget.

---

## 7. Structural Requirements For Complete Engines

A structurally complete world engine must satisfy three conditions:

### Persistent Field
The world exists as a continuous latent structure M_t.

### Projection-Based Observation
Rendering is a read operation, not the state itself.

### Read–Write Closure
All observations feed back into the field through constrained updates.

These conditions ensure convergence toward a stable configuration:

M* = Update(M*)

---

## 8. Conclusion

The distinction between MultiGen and RSVP–Polyxan is not incremental but architectural.

MultiGen:
- samples outputs
- lacks memory
- cannot enforce global consistency

RSVP–Polyxan:
- evolves a field
- accumulates history
- enforces invariants

The transition is from **generation** to **simulation**.

A world becomes persistent when its structure is preserved under transformation. The RSVP–Polyxan framework provides the minimal machinery required to achieve that preservation.
