Pulling statuses from a specific time range

Is it possible to pull statuses using the search function from a specific time frame within the API itself. Or should one code around it to make the function iterate over itself until it finds the right created_at date?

I have developed my version of pulling statuses for a specific time range, by adding the parameter "created_before". If the developer team would like this idea, I'm willing to PR.
