Create Sitemap For Each Locale

SEO Pro only generates a sitemap for the default locale. The sitemap should be generated for each locale though.

Sitemap.xml is basically just a way to kick start SEO indexing these days. When implementing the proper hreflang links you would already inform bots that there's localised entries available.

There is still a use case for localised sitemaps and that's when you have entries available only in a secondary language. However: bots are still smart enough to find them by following links and

tags.

We have 32 locales. The sitemap dies in PHP at 134MB Please split it per locale.

The combination of #398 and #400 will close this. After those merge you'll proper hreflang for your site entries, and multi-url setups will get individual sitemaps.

@sheldonkotyk appreciate theres a huge delay on replying here so sorry, but you could use the pagination option in your config to generate smaller sitemap chunks.

After #289 it's the second issue I am encountering, which makes me flabbergasted how SEO Pro can be a paid add-on without supporting native functionality.

We are running a headless multi-site setup in one Statamic instance. So relative URL's with hreflang mentioned be @robdekort in #56 (comment) won't work for us.

We've just released some improvements around sitemaps in multi-sites (thanks to #399 and #400)! 🚀

Separate sitemaps

SEO Pro now generates a sitemap per domain, listing pages from all sites on that domain. For example, if you have three sites, like this:

• Site A: https://example.com
• Site B: https://example.com/en-gb
• Site C: https://example.fr

Then, you'd end up with two sitemaps:

• https://example.com/sitemap.xml - includes pages from Site A & Site B
• https://example.fr/sitemap.xml - includes pages from Site C

This change should prevent issues where sitemaps link to pages from other domains, which Google and other search engines consider a "no no".

Hreflangs

Sitemaps now include "hreflang" links, making it easier for search engines to discover localizations of content across sites.

Both of these improvements are available in the latest version of SEO Pro (6.10.0).
