head.html partial can't find favicon

When trying to up grade to the new release, I get this error several times:

execute of template failed: 
template: partials/essentials/head.html:11:3: 
executing "partials/essentials/head.html" at <partialCached "favicon" .>: 
error calling partialCached: 
partial "favicon" not found

It looks like this might be related to needing to copy over config/_default/module.toml from the example site as it is a new file in this version.

Are there any other new files that need to be manually copied over?

Okay, I think I solved this for myself but feel like some docs need to be added about how to upgrade to v2. The second commit in genebean/hugo-volunteertechnologist.com#19 is what got things working again and the third is the result of doing a comparison of my entire site to the example site with Meld

In a clean hugo installation (Ubuntu 22.04, Hugo version: 0.147.7+extended) I'm getting this error as well

error calling partialCached: partial "favicon" not found

Any advise how to resolve?

I've managed to get rid of this warning by doing the following:

1. create a dir: layout/partials
2. add a file named favicon.html, containing the following code

<link rel="icon" href="{{ "img/favicon.png" | relURL }}" type="image/png">
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="{{ "img/favicon.png" | relURL }}" type="image/png">

3. create a dir: static / img
4. add file in that dir: favicon.png

Now a new error is produced when I try to run hugo server -D:

error calling partialCached: partial "manifest" not found
