In macOS the app cannot be closed but needs to be killed

I'm using Electron Capture 2.23.2 on macOS Tahoe 26.4.1 on a Macbook Air M1 (but the same issue happened also with different versions of macOS and Electron Capture).

When I close the app, it remains open in the dock. I cannot interact with it anymore, and it prevents the OS to shutdown.
The only thing I can do is to kill it.
