Android background transfer problem

I remember that two weeks ago Android could use the browser to collect and transmit camera video in the background, but after many recent tests, it is no longer possible to transmit audio and video in the background, even if all background-related content has been set up.

Picture-in-Picture (PiP) is the best way to keep Android sending camera/mic when you leave the browser. It shows a small floating video on top of other apps. If PiP is not used, many phones pause the camera/mic in the background.

How it helps

• PiP: keeps a small video “visible”, so Android does not pause capture.
• Without PiP: audio/video may stop 5–30 seconds after you switch apps.

First, to ensure PIP permissions are allowed:

• Browser setting: allow PiP for your browser.
  • Android Settings > Apps > your browser (Chrome/Firefox) > Picture‑in‑picture > Allow.
• Battery setting: reduce restrictions (helps some phones).
  • Set the browser to Unrestricted/Don’t optimize. Turn off Battery Saver if possible.

Then to use use PiP mode in VDO.Ninja

• Auto‑PiP for your own video: add &pipme (or &pip3) to your link.
  • Example: https://vdo.ninja/?push=YOURID&pipme
  • Open the link, start camera; VDO.Ninja will try to enter PiP automatically.

or

• Page PiP button (if supported by your browser): add &pipall (or &pip2) to your link.
  • You’ll see a small square‑with‑arrow icon on the page. Tap it to pop out the layout.
  • Note: Not all Android browsers support this “page PiP”. If you don’t see the button, use the video menu method above.

Tips

• Keep screen on: do not lock the phone while backgrounding; some devices stop capture on screen‑off.
• Only one PiP at a time: close any other app that is already using PiP (e.g., YouTube).
• If PiP does nothing: check the PiP permission for your browser, update the browser, and try again.
• Watch the mic/camera indicator: if it disappears after backgrounding, Android stopped capture.

If you still cannot send in the background after using PiP, please share your device model, Android version, browser/version, and your current battery and PiP settings so we can investigate.

Huawei P30 mobile phone; Android 10, system browser and chrome do not have floating window or picture-in-picture permissions.
