Have a Donation specific confirmation email and page

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
A customer is trying to use PMPro and Donations together to keep things together and not have to use a separate donation plugin but a lot of the 'donation' workflow is still membership specific such as the confirmation page stating that the 'membership' is active.

Ideally we can think out an alternative solution that either references 'donation' instead of membership on the confirmation and emails or separate templates for them.

Hi Andrew - have you given this some thought? Now with PMPro v3 the different groups for levels help a lot for donation-only levels. But there are a few things missing to really provide great support for donations. The custom code you and Kim gave me has always had issues -- it's still not perfect, it seems to break a lot, and it's hard to manage. With a few small additional features added to PMPro you could really have great Donation functionality. The things that I would really like to see are all better communications with the user -- 1) a donation-specific page for entering donations, 2) a donation-specific page for a donation confirmation, and 3) donation-specific emails. Do you have plans for any of these? Thanks!

@mhartste sorry for only seeing this now, I'm working on the Donations Add On and reviewing our issues and features.

I believe you can achieve all of this with some custom code that shouldn't be too difficult to achieve with the help of our support team.

You can check the donation field at checkout and if it's greater than $0 or the order meta in some cases and then: redirect to a custom confirmation page, send a custom email or tweak in the email confirmation (we have a field built in a confirmation message that can be used in emails).

These will be considered in the Donations Add On at our own discretion as we have some functionality that may get you half way there such as confirmation text and tweaking the confirmation email - https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/add-ons/donations-add-on/, with PMPro 3.7 there's also liquid email templates for conditional logic in the context of the email which should get you even closer to what you need instead of sending custom emails in addition to the checkout etc.

The goal is to make it even easier for site owners with donations, but I am confident that these would be small and easy to manage snippets.

Hi Andrew - thanks for your reply.

Yes, I added some custom code a long time ago to go to a donation-specific confirmation page and email.

But hopefully you will add this as a regular feature. Donations and memberships are inherently different, and you treat them differently when setting up the levels. But sending a membership confirmation for a donation has very misleading wording. Once that is addressed the stand-alone donations in PMPro will be much cleaner.
