Consider aligning API with existing used standard?

As SDR API is our "public" window into SDR, it may be worth considering conforming the API to existing, widely used standards (e.g., JSON:API), and the costs/benefits of same. Alignment with open specifications could lower the burden for external consumers by conceivably allowing integration with existing tooling.
