Problem:
When examining cutted parts under a microscope, gaps can be observed where one perimeter (line) meets another. The function "better bonding" can eliminate these gaps in some areas, but this function is quite limited and only effective if the external perimeter is printed first.
Adjustments to layer height, width, extrusion multiplier, and similar settings can help to some extent, but they often introduce other issues and can not get fully rid of the problematic.
Here is a picture from a research paper that i found online. It shows the problematic more visually:
This leads me to believe that a slight (manually adjusted) change in spacing and/or allowing the perimeter overlap to exceed 100% could significantly improve the density and eliminate gaps in prints.
Therefore, a button or checkbox to enable or disable the automatic calculation of spacing, as well as the option to unlock the perimeter overlap, would be highly appreciated.
Thanks a lot!

changing the spacing/overlap will lead to the filament rising above the extruded lines, it simply can't bend around "90°" degrees to fit under the void.
alternatives are to adjust z position and or layer heights for adjacent layers/ extrusion lines.
