• Discussion on translating Exodus files (or maybe more generally volumetric mesh) to a DAGMC surface mesh.
  • Generalize translation of a set of elements to a DAGMC volume
  • In the case that downstream applications want to group elements by other properties (temperature, density, etc.) the API will allow volume creation based on an arbitrary set of elements.
  • A natural translation from volume mesh to DAGMC would be to group elements by block ID -- a separate class/operator to perform this operation globally on the mesh may exist for this case.
• Use of scikit build in our OS ecosystem (PyNE, DAGMC, OpenMC)
  • pros: pip installable packages (executables included), single command to build Python and compiled libraries/executables
  • cons: potential complication for power users looking to build with specialized configurations.
