JARVIS not working on Messenger or locally

I am trying to work and contribute on this project but it is not working properly on messenger or when I run it on localhost. On messenger, no matter what I type, it replies with "I'm sorry; I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say.
Try typing "help" or "request"". From the code we think this might be because it isn't getting the intent but we are not sure why. When we run it locally, every query gets null. Is this a known issue?
