Proposal to this project #74
Description
Hello all,
I've been thinking about how a project like this should go and my conclusion is the following:
The OTFE is already addressed by other projects like Veracrypt in a really good way, but I still think there is a gap that Veracrypt and other software are not covering: the portable and secure encryption on the USB. The idea behind the LibreCrypt Explorer is excellent but it is pretty unstable, so I think instead of focusing on making another encryption tool like Veracrypt, you should go for the encryption on the USB. For instance, you can work on moving the Explorer from Delphi to Lazarus in order to make it multi plattform and fixing the drivers to compile on GCC, at the end, you will have a very popular tool to create vaults on Windows, Linux and probably MacOS and there is no free software doing that in a good way. At the end we can move our files between the three platforms using the LibreCrypt Explorer (Lazarus version) having all the drivers compiled inside or just using shared libraries without the complexity of the drivers to make it OTFE.
This is the humble opinion from a user that has been watching how a good project just died because it got stuck in the wrong goal.
Best regards,
