There is a hashcash package for go also which looks very outdated but might have some ideas in

What this needs is a volunteer to integrate hashcash into go-mega.

I don't know why, but my account is still working without ever giving 402 errors

It works sometimes because you must have logged in using Mega site/app from that computer beforehand. For whatever reason, that allows tools that were getting 402 to not get them, at least for a little bit. It doesn't solve the actual 402 issue though in rclone, just a workaround until they decide to kibosh it, which I'm sure they can.
