RGBA Channels? How to access them? #725

As the title suggests, I'm curious about how I would view or modify RGBA Channels. I'm brand new to PhotoDemon and I'm interested in using it for game development. So to that, I'd like to be able to modify channels such as channel packing textures. |

Hi @bmobius . To improve performance on extremely old and/or low-end hardware, PhotoDemon frequently uses premultiplied alpha behind-the-scenes. This limits its usefulness for tasks that use alpha to represent other information, like textures. For game texture tasks specifically, I'd recommend either GIMP (which has many channel-specific tools, including merging and splitting individual components to/from images) or Paint.NET (which has a much larger community than PhotoDemon so you stand a better chance of getting relevant help). Either way, good luck with your project! |
