• embed duckdb with ducklake extension
• need 1.3 support: [WIP] Update to DuckDB v1.3.0 duckdb/duckdb-rs#505
• looks like a storage engine using the schema type mapping from protobuf, Avro, json into SQL types
• potential to map much of the kafka metadata into separate tables within the same tx
