Allow selecting user input if there are no results

Hello,

I was wondering if there was any interest in allowing the user to still select the input they put in if there are no matching results.

I was thinking I'd add the user input as the very last element in the render function.

What do you think? I need something like this so let me know and I'll try to write up a patch.
