Unsiloing Confluence per Markdown and REST API #1

Request

I want to sync my docs into Confluence server and all docs are written in Markdown.

Pitch

It would be nice to have something in the same spirit like hubspot-tech-writing, to support automatic or semi-automatic information exchange between Confluence and other systems. Now that Confluence Cloud apparently supports Markdown, this has become a viable option, as it provides a significant interoperability gain already, i.e. 50% closer to the goal.

Research

Quickly searching for "confluence markdown api" yields a few results that don't exactly look promising yet. Specifically, using Markdown and REST API interoperability seems to be missing on Confluence Cloud?

Outcome

Import markdown into Confluence has more recent replies, but also refers to 3rd party marketplace addons like Markdown Editor for Confluence, and otherwise talks about options in self-hosted Confluence. That's nice, but not what we are looking at.

We haven't been able to discover documentation or examples about the case we would like to see being solved: How to concisely upload or download Markdown files via Confluence Cloud REST API?

Did we miss it, or is it a feature that does not exist in Confluence yet?
