"Not a valid python path!" for Python 3.10+

When trying to install the VS Code extension with Python 3.10.8, the setup fails.

It is due to the python path validation. It is matching single-digit numbers in the Regex, instead of allowing for multiple-digit numbers. Here is an example:

It works fine for all python versions prior to 3.10, but it fails for all above that.
