[Bug] Claude Code fails to start after upgrading to v8.1.0

Environment

• OS: Windows 11 + WSL2 + Ubuntu
• claude-mem version: 8.1.0
• Previous working version: 8.0.6

Description

After updating claude-mem from 8.0.6 to 8.1.0, Claude Code fails to start. It hangs for a long time during startup and eventually becomes unresponsive.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Install claude-mem 8.1.0 via claude plugin install claude-mem
2. Start Claude Code
3. Claude Code hangs during initialization

Expected Behavior

Claude Code should start normally as it did with version 8.0.6.

Actual Behavior

Claude Code hangs indefinitely during startup and does not become responsive.

Workaround

Uninstalling claude-mem allows Claude Code to start normally:

claude plugin uninstall claude-mem

Additional Context

- Issue started immediately after upgrading from 8.0.6 to 8.1.0
- No issues with 8.0.6
- Uninstalling the plugin resolves the startup issue

Yes, I did restart Claude Code multiple times. I also tried:

1. Restarting the claude-mem worker service
2. Restarting my entire system (Windows 11 + WSL2)

The issue persists - when I run claude command, it hangs indefinitely until I force-quit with Ctrl+C.

The only solution that works is uninstalling the plugin:

claude plugin uninstall claude-mem

After uninstalling, claude starts normally again.

Update: The issue is resolved in v8.2.0.

After upgrading to v8.2.0, Claude Code now starts normally without any hanging. The startup issue that occurred in v8.1.0 no longer happens.
