Question: How to filter devices published to Home Assistant

I have very "busy" environment where i see a lot of devices come and go. Sometimes my gateway picks up devices from people walking next to my home. Those devices are automatically added to Home Assistant via MQTT.

Question - what is the best way to see the auto-discovered devices in MQTT but control what is published to Home Assistant auto-discovery topics?

There are two options for you.

• Turn off auto-discovery once your own devices have been discovered, and only turn it on again briefly if and when you acquire new devices.

and/or

• Use the white-list functionality to generally only allow your own devices to be processed by the gateway.
