Builds problems affect kerning pairs

Using fontforge to build the fonts, I get a bunch of errors:

Skipping non-existent glyph A' in group @MMK_L_A.
Skipping non-existent glyph A.c2' in group @MMK_L_A.c2.
Skipping non-existent glyph Aacute.c2' in group @MMK_L_Aacute.c2.
Skipping non-existent glyph Adieresis.c2' in group @MMK_L_Adieresis.c2.
…

This has the effect of causing it to not build most of the kerning pairs.

The root cause is that many of the glyph names in groups.list have a ' added to them. I've changed this in my own copy, but I'm unsure as to the reason for this. Is there some software in which it works?

Similar issue here, I'm not finding any kerning tables in the ttf files.
