As I chatted with @t-kalinowski about at posit::conf(2025), it would be great if there were either a default display of RAG document source links when using ragnar with an ellmer/shinychat app, or at least an easy 1-command or 1-argument addition of source text chunk links. I think this fits with Posit's goal of using AI responsibly for data science. It feels the same as querychat defaulting to display the SQL behind the answers it gives when a user queries numerical data via natural language.
Those of us who think this is very important can figure out how to do this with ragnar (or have an LLM help us code it 😅 ) It's definitely possible with ragnar already. But if querychat shows SQL by default (and if I remember correctly, Joe said they won't remove it by request), it seems that displaying ragnar document source chunk links by default also makes sense.
Thanks for considering it!
