■2025 7-9 Quarterly Report
OSPO Local Meetups in Japanese are held twice a month.
This quarter, the number of participants ranged from 7 to 19.
We have constantly over 10 attendees except irregular week meetup.
We are happy finding our output in printed OSPO Book at Open Source Summit Europe.

We featured Emily Lovell from UC Santa Cruz as our keynote speaker. Her presentation provided significant insights into OSPOs within U.S. universities and related initiatives, such as CURIOSS (Community of University and Research Institution OSPOs). We hope these initiatives will continue to receive federal support, and we look forward to exploring opportunities for further collaboration.

We have continued to discuss the relationship between open source contribution and industry. During this period, we expanded our focus to include academia alongside the industrial sector, prompted by the Academic OSPO meetup. While the nature of engagement with OSS differs between academia and industry—such as focusing on academic papers versus code development—the fundamental importance of collaboration remains the same for both. We are confident that we can find effective ways for them to collaborate.

In our FAQ meetup, a discussion on SBOM management processes was greatly aided by a detailed process diagram, which provided a common language to illustrate the complex, cross-departmental workflow.
Separately, we discussed the varied understanding of OSS within a company, likened to "the blind men and an elephant." The consensus was that a key role of the OSPO is to act as a "bridge" connecting these different perspectives, which often vary depending on the "OSPO Stage."
