Propose adding addition question to 2024 survey on funding open source #119

I have a suggestion for the 2024 TODO survey.

In the past TODO surveys, the sole (I think) question about funding is under "How does your OSPO work on improving open source sustainability?" where it offers as an option "advising on funding, etc."

This is great and shows whether OSPOs are thinking about this, but because it's grouped together as a broad category, it's hard to tell what % of OSPOs are actually giving money to open source.

I'd love to see a question about whether companies with OSPOs are actively giving money to OSS. It would be interesting to see 3 things here:

  • What % of companies with OSPOs are giving money to open source
  • Whether this is in the form of $ given directly to projects and maintainers (like a FOSS Fund), foundation sponsorships, or other
  • A benchmark of how much companies are giving

I know the survey has limited space, but wanted to propose this in case it's a fit. I haven't seen good data around FOSS Funding anywhere in the industry, and data is one of the key steps of moving the needle ;)
