Publish as Flatpak?

Hi,

I was wondering if you are interested in publishing BreakTimer as a Flatpak on Flathub.
Snap is not necessarily Ubuntu-specifc but at least very focused on it.

I've been maintaining Flatpak manifests on https://github.com/debfx/flatpak-breaktimer mostly for myself so far. I can do the actual work of maintaining it on Flathub. It needs your official blessing though because they don't want random third parties to publish apps.

Hey, flathub would be awesome. Unfortunately electron-builder doesn't support flatpak at the moment, so it can't be built into the existing standard packing and publishing flows.

What would my blessing look like? I'd be happy for you to publish the app, but I wouldn't want to maintain a special case publishing target. I'd be happy to list it as an unofficial installation option.

I think stating here that you are fine with me publish the app on Flathub should be enough. That way I can just link to it in the app submission.

As app id I should use com.tomjwatson.breaktimer since that's what's defined in package.json, right?

I've been thinking about this some more and I think that I don't actually love the idea of having a publishing target be managed by somebody else. What would it look like to fold publishing into this repo? Could you maybe write up what the flow would look like to publish versions from the repo itself?

They only selectively allow projects to upload Flatpaks directly. Usually you need to have a repository on https://github.com/flathub and use their CI/CD pipeline.

Right, yeah. Been a while since I looked at how it works. So what you're suggesting is that you would set up and maintain flathub/app.breaktimer.BreakTimer? By the way that's what the app id should be given that the site is https://breaktimer.app.

I would also like to be able to maintain the flathub repo too, of course.

Yes, exactly. Of course you'd have access as well. (I think they let the app author take over the repository at any point anyway.)
