Can't connect to Ampache instance

I try to connect tomahawk with my ampache instance which is secured with a self-signed ssl certificate.
Is it possible that tomahawk can't handle the self-signed certificate?

In my apache error log I see the following line:
[ssl:info] [pid 31652] (70014)End of file found: [client ::1:57827] AH01991: SSL input filter read failed.

The tomahawk log gives me this:
"/home/xxx/.local/share/Tomahawk/atticaresolvers/ampache/contents/code/ampache.js" : "INVALID HANDSHAKE RESPONSE: "

Do I miss something, or does anyone have clue where to look further?

It actually should be able to.
What version of Tomahawk are you using (and on what platform)?
How did you install the ampache resolver? Automatically from our servers via the settings dialog or from this repository?
