Containers, Docker and Docker Compose

I have a number of containers which I manage using docker compose files. When I run topgrade (ubuntu server) it shows no output under Containers. Is there something I'm missing? I've updated the config to specify the runtime "docker" (even though it is the default).

That should work for compose containers too, you can try a topgrade --show-skipped --only containers to get more info.

I just had the same issue. It went away after I added my user to the docker group as described here and logged back into the server. Without being in the docker group, you need root privileges to run docker (sudo docker), or else any docker command gives you a permission denied while trying to connect to the Docker daemon socket error. My best guess is topgrade runs docker, ignores the exit code (which would have been 1) and just logs the stdout output, which is empty, since the error is presumably on stderr
