Columba on older hardware #1032

Description

@knightshousegames

I have an old Asus Nexus 7 tablet running DivestOS. It runs the Sentry Free Universal APK of Columba just fine, except for one tiny issue: it can't seem to see other clients on the mesh.

I've got it hooked up via Wifi to a GL.iNet travel router along with my laptop and a newer (but still pretty old) Android device. The newer device runs the exact same APK of Columba as the tablet, and the laptop is running Sideband, and they can see each other and message no problem, it's just the tablet that can't communicate with the other clients.

I made sure the wifi on the router is on a set channel, even set the bandwidth to 20 to make sure everything was standard, confirmed that AP Isolation was off, all the standard stuff that comes up in google searches that might prevent two reticulum clients from communicating, so I feel that I've mostly eliminated the router from the equation, so it might be the tablet?

Basically what I am wondering is what might prevent this older tablet from being able to use Columba/Reticulum? (I also tried Sideband on this device and it would only run up to 1.7.0 and didn't see the other clients on there either)

Is there maybe some sort of setting I'm missing? I've gone through all the permissions and given Columba everything it wants and then some. Is there some tech the Nexus 7 doesn't have that Reticulum needs?
