[font_size=20]Basic Editing[/font_size]
Click in the chart view to create a note. Click on the piano to hear pitches for reference. Scroll the chart with the mouse scrollwheel (or tap-drag on mobile devices), and zoom in/out by holding Ctrl when you scroll.
Drag a note by its start to change the timing, its tail to change its pitch, and its end to change its length and/or turn it into a slide. Middle-click it to delete it. During a drag, you can disable snapping pitch by holding [b]Shift[/b] and time by holding [b]Ctrl[/b]; [b]P[/b] and [b]T[/b], or the checkboxes in the Edit View, toggle the default behavior for pitch and time respectively (holding the keys will now enable snapping).
With \"propagate slide changes\" enabled, hold Alt when dragging to break a note away from its neighbor. Note too short to easily grab the pitch handle? Hold [b]Shift[/b] to bring it to the front.
You can hold [b]Shift[/b] and click to move the playhead to where your mouse cursor is.
You can hold [b]S[/b] to drag the selection box anywhere in the chart without needing it to be onscreen. You can also double-tap S to get it out of your way. You can also copy and paste the notes you've selected using the usual keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V).
Press [b]L[/b] to open the Lyrics Overlay. In the Lyrics Overlay, you can double click to insert a new lyric where your mouse cursor is, and you can hit the [b]Return[/b] key to insert a new lyric at the next note (by default). You can press [b]E[/b] to return to Edit Mode.
[font_size=20]Working With Charts[/font_size]
The \"Track Ref\" field should be unique to your chart; you can use the song's name, or include both the name and the artist. If someone else has charted the same song before then make sure it doesn't clash with the existing chart's [code]trackRef[/code]. It is also best practice to name your chart's folder the same as your [code]trackRef[/code].
You can use Ctrl+Shift+S, or hold [b]Shift[/b] when clicking Save Chart, to bypass the \"Save As\" dialog and save to the last file you saved to.
On chart load and save, Trombone Charter will try to load [code]song.ogg[/code] from the chart's folder. If [code]song.ogg[/code] is not present then no backing track will play.
You can pass in a [code].tmb[/code] by dragging it onto the executable, and it will automatically be loaded.
Preview timing can be wonky because it can only update at the refresh rate of your monitor. Gloat all you like, 144hz bougies.
