Regarding network capabilities, Apptron mentions that it uses /hack/alpine.
Will hack/alpine become the default for wanix to allow network access, or how could it be enabled ?

UseCase: I would like to use wanix to run a database (e.g. PostGres) in-browser, have it expose it's port and allow a second wanix instance (shell with sql commands) to connect to this port.

have you tried in apptron first? right now networking "requires" a linux v86 emulator, but i didn't want baseline wanix to need any of that. it currently does to run the busybox based shell, which you could get networking with i think but requires modifying the boot setup. or you could run hack/alpine.

i'm still trying to figure out how to organize things with wanix, and obviously development is more focused on apptron at the moment. hopefully the next wanix release will be closer to final form factor, but not sure when that will be.

Yes, I tried apptron afterwards as wanix was easier to get my hands on (no signup like apptron).

However I think networking as a primitive that should be available even on the wanix baseline (at least as an easy to switch on build flag), as otherwise it's pretty constraining if you want to use wanix as the foundation for something else that might not necessarily need a full VSCode integration (e.g. cli demo to use package managers etc).

Maybe you could consider making hack/alpine baseline and have networking as a (default) build flag in make.
